Day 3 of happiness...

(sorry this is late but the Internet was down yesterday)

Hello weekend! man am i glad to see you!

My husband is away on a camping trip with some of the boys and left on Saturday afternoon. Normally i would tell you how i hate it when Ben leaves and i miss him, blah, blah, blah. BUT this week is happiness week so instead I'm going to say this: Its so great to have some time to myself and do all the girly things i love. I washed my hair and but a treatment in, I painted my nails red, i put a face mask on and then had a cup of tea and chocolate while i watched a movie about Esther called 'one night with the king' all things that i wouldn't have done if Ben was home.

I'm happy for some time alone. xx

Day 2 of happiness...

Well hello my lovely friends this morning as i was walking to school i could see in the distance one of the little darlings from my class looking at me, waiting and waiting for me to get closer. Then he ran with his arm out wide and a huge smile on his face. I dropped my bags, stretched my arms out and picked him up. If that wasn't enough to make me smile he then said "Love you miss" and gave me a very snotty, dirty kiss on my cheek.

Now to give you some background on this little boy: His name is Moses and he is 4 years old. He's been in my class this term and i know I'm not meant to have favourites, but he is differently my favourite. He comes from a very sad background where his parents spend a lot of time at the pub drinking and don't take care of him. But although he has had a hard life he is such a happy little boy. He loves to entertain and is very naughty but because he's so cute all he has to do is show his cheeky little smile and all is forgiven. I love him! and maybe this is why i have to be here at Karalundi, to show his some love.

sharing the love makes me happy!
xx

PS. i would LOVE to show you a photos of Moses but because of privacy i can't, sorry.

Day 1 of happiness...

Well it wasn't hard to come up with what has made me happy today. I was woken up, as i am every morning with a lovely latte. My husband is the best coffee maker i know! and i get to wake up to not only a lovely latte but a fantastic husband who gets up early just to make me one because he knows how happy it makes me.
Thank you Ben! xx

Smile...

I have just finished reading the latest issue of Madason Magazine and was very pleased, the best issue in awhile. Maybe it was just the timing, i haven't felt all that happy lately and this months issue was all about being happy. So i have decided to just be happy!, maybe being happy is a choice. i need to focus on the things that make me smile and let go of all the stuff that makes me sad. To help me remember this i am going to share with you all something that makes me happy for every day over the next week. welcome to happy week!

This time last year...

Well it was about this time last year that one of my greatest friends, Marissa and i were getting ready to visit the 'holy lands'. We were lucky enough to be able to have the 5 week trip payed by HECS so it felt like an opportunity not to be missed. Marissa and i were the only non- Theology students and we really thought that it was going to be harden then it was. We learnt a lot about the people on the trip and i realized how important it is not to judge people before you get to know them. (Ris you know what i'm talking about)

The trip was amazing and we saw so much! i can hardly remember what we did now. But the best part was that i was able to share it with my wonderful friend. Marissa and i have know each other for as long as i can remember and she knows me so well and after that trip we became even closer. Not only did we just see some amazing things but it has really brought the bible to life for me. I was able to walk were jesus walked and experience so many different cultures. It was truly a life changing experience.

crafty...

So I've been feeling the need to get crafty of late, i really need to find a hobby. Ben and i have spent the last few months watching 'one tree hill' and now that we have watched all that we could get our hands on i need to find something else to pass the time. My hobby needs to be something that i can do in the desert, so i need to be able to buy the things i need online or from the supermarket. I was thinking about doing some baking but, Ben isn't into sweet foods (crazy i know!) and I'm trying to slim down before I'm a bridesmaid in my friends wedding. so baking is off the list. So I've been looking online for some inspiration and i came across these cool pom poms. I have a heap of tissue paper at school and i can get it from the supermarket and online! so that's what I'm going to be doing this weekend, i think they will look lovely in my home. They would also be great for a wedding or party of some kind.

You can also buy these lovely pom poms from here
so if mine don't look so good i think i might buy some here.

my friends...

My friends mean the world to me and i think i am just truly realising that now. Ben and i have been watching the TV seres 'one tree hill' all the girls at uni were into it last year but i never got into it until now. Ben and i have shut our self in the house some weekends and lost ourselves in the show. One of the characters Brooke has just gone back to her home town because she realised how important her friends were to her and how they were her true family (she has a crazy mum) anyway it made me relies how much i love and miss my friends. We have been through so much together and they have seen me grow into who i am today and i really think i wouldn't be the person i am without them. I had a few years when i wasn't in contact with these beautiful girls and trust me they were not good ones!

Being so far away is really hard, a lot harder then i had thought. But i am trying to stay positive and remember that this is were God wants me right now. I am learning so much about myself, about teaching, about Ben and marriage and learning to trust God more. And the kids are so cute! last term one of the little girls came up to me and asked me if i had any family here at Karalundi, i said "no not really, just Ben" and she said "Well don't worry miss, We'll be your family" how cute is that.

I miss my friends and family like crazy being here but i know we'll be back together soon and that i just need to make the most of what God is giving me here.

xx
