Day 1 of happiness...

Well it wasn't hard to come up with what has made me happy today. I was woken up, as i am every morning with a lovely latte. My husband is the best coffee maker i know! and i get to wake up to not only a lovely latte but a fantastic husband who gets up early just to make me one because he knows how happy it makes me.
Thank you Ben! xx

Smile...

I have just finished reading the latest issue of Madason Magazine and was very pleased, the best issue in awhile. Maybe it was just the timing, i haven't felt all that happy lately and this months issue was all about being happy. So i have decided to just be happy!, maybe being happy is a choice. i need to focus on the things that make me smile and let go of all the stuff that makes me sad. To help me remember this i am going to share with you all something that makes me happy for every day over the next week. welcome to happy week!

This time last year...

Well it was about this time last year that one of my greatest friends, Marissa and i were getting ready to visit the 'holy lands'. We were lucky enough to be able to have the 5 week trip payed by HECS so it felt like an opportunity not to be missed. Marissa and i were the only non- Theology students and we really thought that it was going to be harden then it was. We learnt a lot about the people on the trip and i realized how important it is not to judge people before you get to know them. (Ris you know what i'm talking about)

The trip was amazing and we saw so much! i can hardly remember what we did now. But the best part was that i was able to share it with my wonderful friend. Marissa and i have know each other for as long as i can remember and she knows me so well and after that trip we became even closer. Not only did we just see some amazing things but it has really brought the bible to life for me. I was able to walk were jesus walked and experience so many different cultures. It was truly a life changing experience.

crafty...

So I've been feeling the need to get crafty of late, i really need to find a hobby. Ben and i have spent the last few months watching 'one tree hill' and now that we have watched all that we could get our hands on i need to find something else to pass the time. My hobby needs to be something that i can do in the desert, so i need to be able to buy the things i need online or from the supermarket. I was thinking about doing some baking but, Ben isn't into sweet foods (crazy i know!) and I'm trying to slim down before I'm a bridesmaid in my friends wedding. so baking is off the list. So I've been looking online for some inspiration and i came across these cool pom poms. I have a heap of tissue paper at school and i can get it from the supermarket and online! so that's what I'm going to be doing this weekend, i think they will look lovely in my home. They would also be great for a wedding or party of some kind.

You can also buy these lovely pom poms from here
so if mine don't look so good i think i might buy some here.

my friends...

My friends mean the world to me and i think i am just truly realising that now. Ben and i have been watching the TV seres 'one tree hill' all the girls at uni were into it last year but i never got into it until now. Ben and i have shut our self in the house some weekends and lost ourselves in the show. One of the characters Brooke has just gone back to her home town because she realised how important her friends were to her and how they were her true family (she has a crazy mum) anyway it made me relies how much i love and miss my friends. We have been through so much together and they have seen me grow into who i am today and i really think i wouldn't be the person i am without them. I had a few years when i wasn't in contact with these beautiful girls and trust me they were not good ones!

Being so far away is really hard, a lot harder then i had thought. But i am trying to stay positive and remember that this is were God wants me right now. I am learning so much about myself, about teaching, about Ben and marriage and learning to trust God more. And the kids are so cute! last term one of the little girls came up to me and asked me if i had any family here at Karalundi, i said "no not really, just Ben" and she said "Well don't worry miss, We'll be your family" how cute is that.

I miss my friends and family like crazy being here but i know we'll be back together soon and that i just need to make the most of what God is giving me here.

xx

the wedding day.....

It’s been awhile since my last post, I have been a little busy… So the wedding has come and gone and my honeymoon is coming to an end. I’m loving married life, although its not feeling all that different. The wedding was a fantastic day, it just went way to fast. We had a lot of family come from all over the place and we hadn’t seen them or our friends since moving to the dessert but it felt like I didn’t get a chance to talk to anyone! The morning of the wedding I felt really relaxed and I’m so glad that I got to really enjoy doing all that fun girl stuff with my girlfriends without feeling stressed about anything. There were a few things that I could have blown up about.

  1. My hair wasn’t really what I wanted, but was easily fixed when I got home.
  2. My make-up was good but she really didn’t do the best job at highlighting my features and when you are paying good money I kind of expected something that I couldn’t do at home. But once again that was easily fixed when I got home.
  3. Then…. This is kind of funny… the exact same thing happened to my sister when she got married and I remember mum running around trying to fix it before my sister saw. My flowers had gross fern all through them. I had given the florist an exact photo of what I wanted and THEY DID NOT HAVE ANY FERN IN THEM! So my wonderful bridesmaids cut and pulled the fern out. The flowers looked so much better!

The ceremony was everything I had dreamed it would be. I knew it would be tough not just for me but also for my dad to get down the isle. As I was standing waiting to walk in it all hit me…. I AM GETTING MARRIED RIGHT NOW! I pulled myself together and walked in with dad on my arm. I walked down the isle to ‘Jessica’s Theme’ from ‘The Man From Snowy River’. A special song for a couple of reasons, Dad and I used to spend our Sundays watching this movie (dad can quote every word). The other reason is, well, because my name is Jessica. I don’t remember anything that the pastor so I am very happy that there is a video I can watch. I felt as if I wasn’t really there, it was although my body was there but like I was just watching. I remember looking around the church and thinking about what a great job mum had done with the flowers and how great the bridesmaids looked. Then it came time for the vowels, which we had written ourselves. I got through them a lot better then I though. There were a few tears but I finished them without too much difficulty. Then I was Mrs Stewart!

The rest of the day is kind of a blur, everything just seamed so rushed, I just wanted to stay there all night and hang out with my friends.

Then we were off on out honeymoon… and that’s another story.
